Day 1: Travel to Akagera-embark on a short game drive
You will be picked up after your early morning breakfast. Head to Akagera National Park, about 2 and half hours’ drive. Get there early and embark on a short game drive after lunch. This gets you an incredible view of zebras, buffaloes, elephants, buffaloes, birds among others. Overnight stay will be at Dereva Hotel (Basic), Akagera Game Lodge (Moderate), or in Ruzizi Tented Lodge.
Day 2: Enjoy a game drive & boat cruise
Day 2 of your 5 days Rwanda gorilla & wildlife starts with a delicious breakfast. After, go for an enjoyable game drive to view Akagera’s huge profusion of wildlife. These range from elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Masai giraffes, rhinos, leopards, lions, birds. This will be 2-3 hours and you drive back for lunch.
Have an afternoon boat cruise after lunch. This is an amazing water sport taking you 2-3 hours but you get a clear view of hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds in Lake Ihema. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Dereva Hotel (Basic), Akagera Game Lodge (Moderate), or in Ruzizi Tented Lodge (Luxury).
Day 3: Morning game drive & go to PNV in Northwestern Rwanda
Embark on a game drive before setting off for Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy the great sight of wildlife in Akagera once again and head to Northwestern Rwanda to check into your lodge; Garden Palace Hotel/Hotel Muhabura (Basic), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Da Vinci Lodge (Moderate), Virunga Lodge, or in Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).
Day 4: Gorilla trek in PNV Rwanda
After early morning breakfast, drive to Kinigi for briefing. Go with some packed lunch and bottled drinking water. Once you have been assigned to a gorilla group, go trek mountain gorillas starting at 8:00 am. This memorable experience will last for 2-6 hours and it includes a maximum of one hour with these massive apes. Return after observing the gorillas and later, you will pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village.
Day 5: Kigali city tour
Today marks the end of your 5 days Rwanda gorilla & wildlife tour. Check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali to participate in the city tour. Later, transfer to the airport for departure and this will be after lunch.
