Since 2024, foreign non-residents cannot buy Uganda gorilla permits directly from UWA online — you must use a licensed tour operator. This guide is the exact process we follow for hundreds of travellers per year, including lead times, sector choice, and what happens if your dates are sold out.
Step 1 — Choose travel dates and sector
Peak season (June–September, December–February): book 3–6 months ahead. Promotional months (April, May, November): often 4–8 weeks may suffice — but do not wait; only 152 permits exist nationwide each day.
