Sustainable safaris rooted in social impact

Mwanzo means The Beginning — a regenerative tourism model built around the Serah Project, locally led operations, and the belief that every journey should strengthen the communities it touches.

Our model

Tourism that funds Serah Project — and respects the land

Mwanzo Tours is not a safari catalogue with a charity page attached. Social impact through the Serah Project is the reason we exist — co-founded by Anthony and Esther Kiweewa to keep open the door that once opened for Anthony in Bukomansimbi.

Hanna Lukács, sustainability specialist and co-founder, shaped Mwanzo around regenerative principles: locally led development, environmental respect, intimate curated travel, and genuine cultural exchange — with every booking supporting Serah's work with vulnerable children.

The Founder

Anthony Kiweewa

Raised by a childcare foundation in Bukomansimbi after losing both parents young, Anthony knows what it means to wait for someone to come. That foundation did more than feed and shelter a boy — it believed he could become someone. He went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering, but travel and tourism captured his heart.

Today he is the CEO of Mwanzo Tours — building safaris and journeys across the country he loves, with the same passion he brings to every road, every guest, and every community he meets. The work is not separate from Serah Project. A share of every booking through Mwanzo Tours helps fund the children Serah Project serves.

Anthony co-founded Serah Project with his wife Esther because the door that opened for him in Bukomansimbi had to stay open for the next child standing alone — a child whose mother is in prison, a child the world forgot. Someone paid for him when he could not pay for himself. Through Mwanzo Tours and Serah Project, he pays that forward every day.

“I grew up in a small village with very little, but I was surrounded by stories, nature, and people who taught me the true meaning of community. Losing my parents at a young age was painful, but it gave me the strength to dream of a better tomorrow. Mwanzo Tours is that dream.

When you travel with us, you don't just see Uganda — you touch the lives of the people who live here. You help a child go to school, you support a family, and you give hope to a community. That is why every journey with Mwanzo Tours is more than a safari; it is a chance to make a difference.

I invite you to walk this journey with me — to explore Uganda's beauty, meet its people, and leave a mark of impact that lasts far beyond your trip.”

Hanna Lukács

Hanna Lukács is a sustainability specialist, investor and co-founder of Mwanzo Tours. With years of experience working on environmental and community-based projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, she is deeply committed to locally led, regenerative development.

Mwanzo Tours was created from the belief that tourism should strengthen communities, respect nature, and foster genuine cultural exchange.

In parallel, Hanna works in sustainable investing, bridging capital with integrity and real-world impact — connecting conscious travelers in Europe with Anthony's team on the ground, and with the Serah Project communities every booking supports.

On the ground

Real guides. Real vehicles. Real Uganda.

Every Mwanzo journey is led by locally born guides who know the parks, the communities, and the roads. Our safari fleet is built for comfort on long drives and wildlife viewing — from Bwindi's forests to the savannas of Queen Elizabeth and Murchison.
