Sample 12-day academic itinerary

Day 1 · Orientation · Kampala

Arrival, safety & ethics briefing, introduction to Uganda's development context. Guest lecture from Mwanzo/Serah leadership.

Days 2–3 · Serah Project field module

Structured community engagement — child protection systems, education access, caregiver networks. Student reflection journals. Ethics review.

Day 4 · Sustainable tourism workshop

How tourism revenue flows to communities. Case study: Mwanzo Tours model. Group project assignment.

Days 5–6 · Conservation module · Queen Elizabeth

Park visit with ranger talk — human-wildlife conflict, community conservancies. Kazinga Channel field observation.

Days 7–8 · Primate ecology · Kibale or Bwindi

Chimp or gorilla trek (permits pre-arranged). Briefing on primate tourism economics and UWA conservation model.

Day 9 · Cultural exchange

Community-led cultural programme — music, craft, local food. Student presentations prep.

Day 10 · Group presentations

Cohort presents findings to Mwanzo/Serah team. Feedback from Anthony & faculty.

Days 11–12 · Synthesis & departure

Final reflection, optional Kampala NGO visit, departure.
